DIY Avocado Face Masks

If I had to survive with only one type of food for the rest of my life, I would choose Avocado! Avocados are so yummy to eat, very filling, beneficial to your health and also an excellent natural beauty product! Guatemala produces heaps of avocados. Guatemalans consume so many avocados that they are known as “panza verdes” (green bellies.) Avocados are sold in the markets, on the street and you might even be lucky enough to have one in your backyard or have a friend with a blooming tree! Avocados contain over 25 vital nutrients – vitamins A, B, C, E, and K and minerals – copper, potassium, iron, magnesium and phosphorus. Avocados are one of the most healthiest natural ingredients on earth, they are even considered to be a complete diet for babies. I made two amazing avocado based face masks that are super hydrating and will leave you glowing!

Avocado & Banana Mask


This mask is awesome for beating sun damage and aging. Bananas are a great source of vitamin C, B6, and manganese. Avocados contain vitamin K, which aides in reducing redness and dark under-eye circles.

1/2 ripe Avocado mashed

1/2 Banana mashed  (I used a whole banana but it was a smaller lady finger banana)


Mash together the avocado and banana in a bowl and then place in the fridge for about 30 minutes to chill,  then apply to your face. Leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse with cool water, you will be amazed in how refreshed your face becomes! I have recently been exposed to a lot of hot sunshine so I really needed this mask to combat the affects of sun damage, I was left feeling clean, tight and soft!




Glowing Avocado Mask


Avocados are a natural moisturizer for you skin. Apple Cider Vinegar naturally balances the pH of your skin, it can also aid in fading age spots and acne scars. I prefer to use local honey, but conventional will work if that is all you can get your hands on. Honey is full of antioxidants which is awesome for wrinkles and aging skin. Honey is also anti-bacterial, aiding in preventing breakouts.  It clarifies the skin by opening up and unclogging pores.

1/2 ripe Avocado mashed

1 tbsp of Honey

1 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar




Mix all ingredients in a bowl and mash to a good consistency. Place in the fridge for about 20 minutes so it can feel nice and refreshing on your face! Apply to your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with cool water and a damp cloth. You will have toned, glowing skin! My coworker, Sarah tried this mask and her skin was pristine and glowing as soon as she rinsed off the mask!




For best results, use the mask twice a week,  but always make fresh! Both these masks are super easy to make and are made of ingredients that are typically found in any health junkies kitchen. Get your glow on!!
