Bee Pollen || Super Food Series

What’s all the Buzz about Bee Pollen?

Honeybees have been generating a lot of buzz lately. Namely because they are rapidly disappearing from our environment. The impact that honeybees have on the human population and the environment is far more crucial than most may think. Agricultural crops rely on honeybees worldwide to provide them with life and guarantee their reproduction.

Luckily for you, I am not going to depress you with the fact that if the honeybees disappear, so do we. Instead I am going to fill you in on bee pollen, a mind blowing super food that is provided by honeybees. I have always been aware of bee pollen yet I was unaware of the insane benefits that this little super food has to offer. Recently I have been trying to incorporate it into my daily diet and after knowing all the amazing benefits, I want to share them everyone!

Bee pollen is collected pollen that the honeybees take back from the flowers and store in their hives as food for the young bees.  Bee-gathered pollens are rich in proteins , containing 40% protein, plus amino acids, B-complex and folic acid.

Bee Pollen is a miracle super food that is known to reduce cholesterol & allergy symptoms, improve immune function, lower stress levels, prevent premature aging, improve endurance and energy, treat addictions, helps cure hormonal imbalances and infertility problems.

Because of its highly concentrated nature, and the fact that it is harvested from flowers, sourcing bee pollen gathered in a pesticide-free environment is very important! If you are going test out bee pollen, I’d suggest buying local bee pollen – as it will help tune your body into your surrounding environment.

Daily bee pollen intake can insure absorption of many essential minerals that may be lacking from commercially grown produce and that are not often included in vitamin mineral supplements.  Bee pollen contains all the essential amino acids that your diet needs!

It is important to know that one teaspoon dose of pollen takes one bee working 8 hours a day for 1 month to gather!!  I have a new appreciation for bees and I now vow to leave any bee alone that comes buzzing around. Honeybees are the glue that holds our agricultural system together, the importance of them is crucial to our survival.

Add bee pollen to smoothies, juices, oats, acai bowl, even sprinkle on sweet deserts!

In  ‘La Casa de Stela 9’  we like to sprinkle bee pollen on juices, smoothies and granola. This morning I sprinkled Bee Pollen on my papaya boat full of berries, bananas and granola : )
